What measures are in place to ensure the Businesses / Services on the site are genuine?

These are questions you should ask whenever you considering accepting someone's help, work or services, whether you are using the eSaviour website or not. There is no simple answer, but you will probably have made similar assessments yourself when asking someone to do something for you.

There are various measures in place on the website to promote and support genuine, reliable businesses and to help you decide which one to choose. These are described in more detail below but include:

  • All Business / Services Profiles in our UK Business Directory are individually checked and monitored for inappropriate content
  • A reporting system is in place, provided by a "Report this User" button on every User Profile and Business / Service yellowpages profile
  • A review system is in place including ratings and comments to allow customers to select the businesses with the highest standards
  • Minimum signup standards include a compulsory business post / zip code
  • A support forum is available for help and discussion
  • The Contact Us page can be used to get in touch with a website admin
  • All Businesses, Services and Organisations in the web directory have the option to include awards / qualifications / registrations with regulatory authorities etc. You should look out for these on their profile pages

There are several things you should consider, outlined below. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list, it is a guide to help you. You should also read the Terms and Conditions when making your decision.

  • Are they a member of a professional, regulatory or supervisory authority?
    • Is there a public register you can check?
    • Is their membership current?
  • Were they recommended to you?
    • Who by?
    • What value would you place on this recommendation?
    • What was the recommendation based upon? Was it similar work to that you require?
  • Have you met or could you meet the Business / Service provider (or person acting on their behalf?)
    • Would this be of benefit to the help you require?
  • What would be the impact or consequences if they were not able to offer what they claimed, or meet your expectations?
    • Is there a safety risk?
    • Are you working to a specific timeframe?
    • What would you lose or gain by asking for their help?
  • What guarantees or warranties are they offering?
    • What is your confidence in these guarantees?
  • What qualifications, titles, awards or distinctions do they have?
    • Who was the awarding body?
    • Can you contact the awarding body?
    • Can you check these with the awarding body?
    • When were these acquired?
    • Are these currently valid or have they lapsed, been suspended or removed?
    • Are these relevant to the help you require?
    • Are these valid in your geographical location?
    • Are their different tiers/gradings within these?
    • What tier/grading is claimed?
    • What tier/grading can be demonstrated?
    • Does the eSaviour have a requirement for continuing development and if so has this meet met?
  • Do they have a website?
    • Is the website well known?
    • Does the website provide their contact details? Are these genuine?
  • What payment terms are they expecting?
    • Have you been asked to make any payment before all the work is complete? What risk does this carry?
  • Ratings - are these good or bad?
    • Do they meet your expectations?
  • Comments - what have other people said?
  • How long has the Business / Service been a member on the site?
  • Those who have rated or commented on the Business / Service - how good are their own ratings and comments? How long have they been a member of the site?
  • Do you know the Business / Service provider? Do you know anybody else who knows them?

What guarantees are provided by the website (and parent company) in relation to Businesses / Services?

We do not provide any guarantees in relation to any of the Businesses / Services on the site. eSaviour.com is about putting you in touch with the help you need and through these FAQs we also want to help you to choose the right Business / Service for the work you need doing. You should satisfy yourself what guarantees or warranties are offered by the Business / Service. For further information, please see our Terms and Conditions.

Do you verify qualifications?

Do you verify registration with regulatory or supervisory authorities or public bodies?

No, we would advise you to do this yourself using whatever steps you feel are necessary. This is a complex subject and there are many factors to consider when attempting to verify qualifications or registration with an authority or public body, but some guidance questions have been included below:

  • Is the registration / qualification relevant to the help required?
  • When was the qualification / registration granted?
  • Is the qualification / registration currently valid?
  • Is the qualification / registration currently, or has it been in the past, suspended or removed?
  • Is the qualification / registration valid in your geographical location?
  • Who was the awarding body and what is their status?
  • What tier / grading is the qualification / registration?
  • Does the Business / Service have a requirement for continuing development and if so has this meet met?

You should take whatever steps you deem necessary to very qualifications / registration status before accepting any help from a Business / Service (or someone engaged by them), whether or not you use eSaviour.com to find the right source of help.
